Built on Faith, Family and Hard Work: Lefty’s Pump and Drilling Celebrates 60 Years
By Allie Johnson
For nearly six decades, Lefty’s Pump and Drilling has been a trusted name in the Ozarks—built on hard work, determination, and deep family roots. Owned and operated by Greg Evans and family, this long-standing business has been serving the community since 1966.
What started as a leap of faith with just $2,000 has grown into a multigenerational success story. Founder Lefty Evans, alongside his wife Sharon, took a risk when they purchased a small pump business in Aurora, Missouri. In the early days, the operation was as humble as it gets—Sharon answering calls from the kitchen phone while helping on jobs, and the family loading up their truck with everything they needed for a day’s work, including their young son Greg.
Through grit and perseverance, the business slowly grew. From upgrading equipment to purchasing their first drill, each step forward was earned through dedication. Over time, the next generation stepped in, with Greg eventually taking on a leading role. Today, the business continues to thrive with Greg, his wife Angie, their son, and even their son-in-laws carrying on the legacy—sometimes with great-grandkids learning the ropes along the way.
This year marks an incredible milestone for Lefty’s Pump and Drilling as they celebrate 60 years in business. What sets them apart isn’t just their longevity, but the strong family foundation that continues to guide everything they do. Their story is one of resilience, growth, and staying true to their values.
The Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce has also played a role in supporting their continued success. Through networking opportunities and increased visibility, the Chamber helps connect them with other businesses and individuals throughout the community, while also providing helpful resources for their team.
Doing business in Stone County has always been rooted in relationships. As the team at Lefty’s shares, “Word of mouth is the marketing plan in Stone County. Lefty built his reputation one job at a time, and we strive to continue his legacy.” That reputation, built over decades, continues to be one of their greatest strengths.
For those considering starting a business in the area, their advice reflects the spirit of the community: Stone County is a place where relationships matter and businesses support one another. It’s a place where hard work is recognized and long-term success is possible.
At its core, Lefty’s Pump and Drilling is about more than just providing a service—it’s about honoring a legacy. “From long days on the job to quiet moments spent fishing on Table Rock Lake, Lefty built a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work. Today, that same foundation lives on through his family as we continue the business he started.”
After 60 years, that legacy is still going strong—serving the people of Stone County with the same dedication and values it was built on from the very beginning.
