Made in Stone County Small Business Tuff Momma Salt CoIn the heart of the Ozarks, nestled in Branson West, you’ll find a small business bringing big flavor to kitchens across multiple states. TUFF Momma® Salt Craft, owned by Vashon Borich-Leach, has been crafting high-quality gourmet salts and handmade wooden housewares for the past seven years—and continues to grow.

TUFF Momma® Salt Craft specializes in gourmet culinary salts, along with beautifully crafted wooden spice racks, hand-turned spoons, bowls, and other housewares made from reclaimed wood. Their products are not only unique, but also thoughtfully made. Every salt blend is all-natural, non-GMO, allergen-free, gluten-free, vegetarian, and ethically sourced.

With 27 different gourmet salts to choose from, there’s something for every taste. Some customer favorites include Ozark Campfire, French Garden, Maple Bacon, Smoky Citrus, and Jalapeño Lime. What truly sets the business apart is its commitment to keeping things simple and clean—no chemicals, no artificial additives-just pure, unrefined flavor.

Though relatively new to the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce, Vashon has already seen the benefits of being involved. “I’ve already made some great connections and received some excellent training in Chamber U classes. It’s been an excellent resource for growing my business!” she shared.

Like many entrepreneurs, Vashon learned valuable lessons along the way. One piece of advice she now shares with others is: “Follow what YOU enjoy in life and make that a business. Then seek out people who like what you like to market it to.” She adds, “Too often I tried to market to everyone, and not everyone is my customer! Once I realized that, things got much easier.”

Doing business in Stone County has been a positive experience for TUFF Momma® Salt Craft. Compared to other areas, Vashon notes the process is more straightforward and welcoming, especially when it comes to participating in local vendor events. It’s a place she’s proud to call home for her business.

Her advice to others thinking about starting or relocating a business in the area? Simple: “Do it! It’s a good county to grow in.”

TUFF Momma® Salt Craft continues to expand its reach, with products now available in 14 retail stores across five states, as well as at local events, craft fairs, and farmers markets. And for those just starting out, Vashon is always happy to connect and share her experience with fellow small business owners.

Small businesses like TUFF Momma® Salt Craft are a big part of what makes Stone County special—driven by passion, creativity, and a strong sense of community.
